JUMBO ROCKS CAMPGROUND
Jumbo Rocks is at higher elevations, in the middle
of the action. With big huge rocks to climb around on.
A very short drive over to Joshua Tree.
If everyone is "on time" we should arrive around 9:30 am, to "check in" and get a campsite for Saturday night. Most campgrounds at Joshua Tree have tables and campfire pits, but NO SHOWERS. To provide showers, the van will take people over to the Coyote Corner store, which is the only place in town that offers showers. The is also no water. Bring your own bottled water, or pick up soft drinks or beer at the local store - along the way. Drinking is allowed. No drugs. Period.
Showers that are typically at most campgrounds, are not found here. Since they are not available on site, Adventure Avenue still guarantees hot showers to everybody --- and the general camp fund will be used to pay for BOTH the multiple campsites at Jumbo Rocks and individual shower "tokens" down the highway at Coyote Corner. (shown below).

A POPULAR PLACE
EVEN DURING THE WINTER
ALTERNATIVE CAMPGROUND
JOSHUA TREE LAKE
Jumbo Rocks is one of the "most popular" campgrounds,
but possibly overcrowded. This is the place for rock climbers.
For whatever reason, if there is "no space" at Jumbo Rocks, we can also use alternative campgrounds, such as Joshua Tree Lake, which has an onsite "lake" and fish and bait tackle store. If you like fishing, you might prefer Joshua Tree Lake.
AT THE CAMPGROUND
Everybody brings their own sleeping bags and/or blankets.
Whether or not to use your own tent, or share a tent with others in the group --- please let us know --- on the survey.
Sharing a tent is optional, not required.
The reason? Space is limited. We try to make it "fun" by taking the biggest group of campers possible, but it sometimes leaves less space for excessive camping gear. Sharing a tent, can make it more efficient. And less hassle setting up. The driver has space for 1-2 people, but if more space is needed, are you willing to share your tent with others? It's an optional choice.
Travel light --- bring what you need ---please don't "overdo it"
Leaving more room in the van for stretching your legs.
"Vote" for your preferred MetroLink station. The designated station will be "centrally located" between all the campers.
$5 PER PERSON "ADMISSION"
JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK
After we set up camp, we will spend the day driving around and exploring the area around Joshua Tree. There are places to explore "a cactus garden". There are other places to explore "an oasis" in the desert. There are also places to go that provide "expansive views" of the entire area.

AT JOSHUA TREE
Throughout the weekend, we will "shuttle" people
around the local area, wherever they want to go.
Such as www.joshuatreeranch.com
Some people might choose horsebackriding.
Some people might choose ATV 3-Wheel Rentals.
Or, if you find something else you want to do, just let us know about it --- we'll "shuttle" you there. All personal activities are optional, at your own expense. Horses, ATV Rentals, or other "extras" like Dune Buggies in the desert are "not included"
with a standard AA Ticket.
However, a "shuttle" to get there --- is always included.
Without "extras" everyone can still have a good time.
Stay together with the main group of campers, doing all kinds of "free" activities like hiking, exploring, and driving around Joshua Tree National Park on our personal "tour bus".

THE FLIP SIDE ANOTHER
ALTERNATIVE CAMPGROUND
WITH "EXTRAS"
29 PALMS RESORT
Even though Jumbo Rocks puts us "in the middle"
of nature, there is no running water. And, no showers.
The alternative is to hike around @ Jumbo Rocks during the day --- giving people hours of daylight.
Including other stops at Joshua Tree National Park.
Then, drive into 29 Palms at night for camping at a "luxury" RV campground with pool, hot tub, sauna, club house, ping pong, BBQ, tennis, and possible live music.
The swimming pool is "heated"
The "up side"
You gain a "heated" pool, sauna and hot tub.
Not available at the other 2 campgrounds.
All the "extras" of a resort campground.
The "down side"
Tent camping is in an empty RV site.
No scenery from the tents.
On the other hand... why do you need scenery at night?
It's just a place to sleep ----with access to the club house.
Full kitchen. Ping Pong. Grassy Areas. BBQ Pit.
Hot showers "on site". Pool. Sauna. Hot tub.
Whatever people want to do --- please cast your "vote".
"VOTE" FOR YOUR
PREFERRED CAMPGROUND
ON THE SURVEY
Adventure Avenue will let all the campers "vote" between Jumbo Rocks, 29 Palms and Joshua Tree Lake.
Majority Rules.
Personally, our staff feels like 29 Palms is the best choice, because we will already be at Jumbo Rocks --- during the day. You can climb rocks until your arms and legs fall off during daylight hours. Why sacrifice comfort at night with no running water or hot showers at Jumbo Rocks, when we can make a short drive into town, staying at 29 Palms, and gain all the advantages of swimming pool, sauna and hot tub.
Esp. after climbing rocks. All day.
What better than --- a hot tub and sauna. At night.
However ----all the campers ----get to decide.
Although they provide an RV space for setting up tents.
We think nobody needs scenery at night,
because it's dark outside. What's the point?
Which is why we made this campsite --- an option.
For the extra benefits of pool, hot tub, and sauna.
They still have a place for campfires --- at the RV park.
Just bring an extra blanket for the floor of your tent.
Everyone please tell us -----your preference.

FOOD POLICY
Food expenses are "not included" with the AA Ticket.
We don't dictate what people eat with a pre-planned menu.
We stop at cafes and restaurants, or local grocery stores.
If campfire wood is needed, Adventure Avenue will provide the logs or bag of charcoal, for cooking dinner over "a campfire". And, all the paper plates and forks.
Depending on the fire regulations of the campground.
We'll either be using local firewood, a pre-packaged "log" from the grocery store, or a bag of charcoal.
On the road, people "vote" concerning Saturday night.
Does everyone want to share "a big, campfire dinner" where everybody donates equal funds for all the food expenses? For a 3-course meal with all the trimmings.
Or, does everybody just want to "do it yourself."
Concerning --- the campfire ----it's a group decision.
Otherwise, the rest of the weekend food is on your own.
