TRAVEL ITINERARY
DECEMBER 26 - JANUARY 3
DECEMBER 26
Begin 7 hour drive --- Los Angeles to Arizona
Possible night time departure. Otherwise, this is a road trip. Expect a scenic drive.
Adventure Avenue provides games, movies, music and "pit stops" along the way.
Meet new people. Bring a book. Bring your laptop. Bring your best friend.
When we run across interesting roadside attractions, the Tour Bus will stop.
Generally, people are responsible for their own meals --- on the road.
When the weather permits a camping trip, Adventure Avenue staff provides a complete campfire dinner which allows our passengers to explore the area and come back to a prepared meal. When the weather forces us into indoor accommodations, the meal schedule is flexible. On your own. Since this is a winter expedition, campfire dinners are dependent upon the weather. If no camping trip is allowed, the campfire dinner fund will be diverted to other expenses that are shared with all the passengers.
DECEMBER 27
We will take our first break at The Grand Canyon.
Spending an entire day in the area. There is usually a light snow at Grand Canyon during the winter, adding to the beauty of this national park.
DECEMBER 28 - 29
Depart Grand Canyon. Begin a 10 hour drive to Colorado Springs.
We will "break up" the 10 hour drive with different, optional stops along the way.
Such as
Mesa Verde National Park.
Great San Dunes National Park
Canyon of the Ancients.
And more.
All stops along this 10 hour segment will be determined depending on road conditions,
that either -- slow us down -- or -- force a detour that take us off schedule. We expect to arrive in Colorado Springs by December 30.
DECEMBER 29, 30, 31
Arrive Colorado Springs.
During this 3 day period, we will make different stops.
Such as
Colorado Springs.
Garden of the Gods.
Boulder. Denver.
Rocky Mountain National Park.
All stops dependent upon road conditions keeping us "on schedule".
New Years Eve will be spent at a local event in this region.
Gift Exchange with other people on the trip.
JANUARY 1
Begin 5 hour drive to Arches National Park in Utah.
Take "a break" Explore the area. If time allows, explore Canyonlands.
JANUARY 2
Begin 5 hour drive to Las Vegas.
A "pit stop" in Las Vegas. Relax. Stretch your legs.
Enjoy an evening in and around Las Vegas.
JANUARY 3
Begin 5 hour drive back to Los Angeles.
Remember, Adventure Avenue is a road trip and camping "adventure club".
Although it's a long drive to and from Colorado, the journey is part of the experience.
We make plenty of interesting stops along the way. With room in the RV to stretch out.
You'll spend a lot of time looking out the window, watching the world go by,
and just exploring a new part of the country you may have never seen before.
That's what makes travelling with us "a big adventure".
The total number of days, dates, schedule, and the general route has been determined
according to the collective "votes" of all the preliminary club members who registered.
YOUR AA TICKET INCLUDES:
All transportation and driver(s) round-trip from Los Angeles.
Parking, toll roads, overnight accommodations, showers and some campfire dinners.
Games, movies and music along the way.
Cost is determined based upon total number of people who register.
We will announce the final cost as it gets closer to departure,
Different people are communicating with us, and we do not have a final count yet.
NOT INCLUDED WITH TICKET:
Meals - on the road, personal expenses, general admission to attractions you might be interested in, theater tickets, ski rentals and lift tickets, sleigh rentals, shopping, souvenirs. etc. Adventure Avenue provides the Tour Bus and a place to sleep w/showers. Some meals. Whatever activities you choose to do, is at your own discretion, and we "shuttle" people to places of interest.
